Before we jump let me point out that I not going to cover the typical surface travel tips. Instead we are going cover the principle travel tips and discover what mind set is needed to gain the best experience wherever you go.

Some of these travel tips will be hard for you to apply but after 8 years of traveling the world I have found these 5 travel tips to become a motto and guideline for me. I hope that you take them in and really consider them the next time you take off to gain more experiences.

Travel Tips #1 - Be open and don't plan everything out:

"Do it with the locals." This is a huge travel tip to follow when traveling. You can never beat the knowledge of a local and I would highly suggest to avoid sitting at your computer and trying to figure everything out.

The KEY is to get a few travel tips about the area. The next step is to myspace or facebook some locals down there and ask them what's cool and if you could meet up for a day or two to have some local fun with them. Most locals will love this opportunity and the experiences you have from that are priceless. I still remember a time in the Brazil where I did this and ended up in some tribe in the Amazon being taught Capawara by a Capawara Master. I could have never planned that from a desktop.

Travel Tips #2 - Immerse yourself in the culture:

Everyday you should be trying something new but more importantly you should constantly be stepping out of your comfort zone.

One of the best travel tips I can give you is this "Give yourself all the experiences you can h." Experiences are directly relate to your personality and ultimately the quality of life you are going to have.

Here's some interesting information. When you're out of your comfort zone you fall into what's called the state of dissonance. The body and minds goal is to become comfortable again so as it starts to eliminate the state of dissonance and creates comfort again. When this process happens the body mind and expands, personality grows, lessons are learned and you can now handle more situations in life. Next time you travel try not to create a home away from home and instead let whereever you are at impact you.

Travel Tips #3 - Chose your travel companions wisely:

This travel tip is an all encompassing principle in life. It has become apparent in these last few years of traveling that the quality of life and our fulfillment and happiness is greatly effect by the support and relationships around us.

I have seen to many travelers take off on a journey with someone that shares the same dream to travel but completely different lifestyle and it ruining the trip for them. The sad part is you find these people in amazing place completely involved in this drama scene instead of being involved in the beauty and culture.

The moment this became apparent was 3 years ago in Costa Rica. I was sitting on the beach in a surf town named Montezuma. The sun was beginning to set and it was one of those perfect conditions for a beautiful one.

While sitting there a hostel roommate sat down next to me and after a few questions about his travel he began to release all of this built up baggage he was holding in about his travel companion. While sitting there watching this beautiful sun set I realized he had no clue it was happening. The truth is not everyone is a good travel companion for you but when you do travel with the right one your traveling and experiences are going to be 100 times better.

Travel Tips #4 - Tie up any loss ends and disconnect from your life at home:

Technology was supposed to give us freedom and instead it has started to control us. Most people can't go more then three days with out checking email or their personal site, 5 minutes with out responding to a text message and a few days with out checking in with their peeps.

The point to catch here is where ever you are physically at in life is REALITY. Anything that's in not present such as home, old friends, family, old lifestyles is a memory and more importantly only a thought. There is a famous quote I love to reflect on:

"You can clutch the past so tightly to your chest that it leaves your arms too full to embrace the present." ~Jan Glidewell

This is a very important principle in life and travel. You have a certain amount of energy a day, you can either place that energy on a thought in your head or you can place it on the experiences in the present. Where you consistently place your energy will determine who you are and how much fulfillment you get out of life.

Travel Tips #5 - Focus more on the experience then a trophy picture to show your friends:

This travel tip ties into travel tip #4. What I always find fascinating is the amount of people that go out traveling just to take pictures and show them off to their friends back home. Pictures are great for reflection and to keep your memory bank full of good moments and they are not good when it turns into competition and distractions from the moment.

Bonus Travel Tip - Don't over pack

This is the simple travel tip but it shocks me how much happier I am when I apply this. Ten pair of shorts, 20 shirts, your favorite 3 pairs of shoes and your massive bag of everything you could possible need is what I call unnecessary and mental hassle to take care of.

I prefer to buy cloths along the way to better immerse my self in the culture and to pack light with one the top 10 necessities. This makes your more mobile and free from lugging that useless crap around. Next time you travel consider writing a list of the 10 thing that are the most important things to have on your travel and let go of the rest.

After 8 years of traveling I found these travel tips to be of up most importance. As I was saying before some of these are going to be hard to apply but if you decided put the effort in an apply these travel tips you are going to find yourself having more experiences and more fulfilling adventures.

Even if an artist has an outstanding talent, record deals do not fall out of the sky and land in your lap without music marketing. In this Internet age, A&R at most record labels is not what it once was, so those reps are looking for artists that already have CD sales, a great fan base, and already have the look and feel of being made even more marketable.

We started a list of marketing tips in 100 Tips To Market Your Music and continue more great ideas here, so tweak any of them as you will!

Promo Tip #55 Tag your MP3s with your name or band name, not just the song name. They need to know WHO did this material when they happen across it months later.

Promo Tip #56 Know who you are! Get into an appropriate category so that you can be found. People have to be able to identify your sound into a category that they can identify with. You may want to portray a new edgy sound, which is fine, but there are still general categories that people search on in record stores or online and you have to be found in one of them.

Promo Tip #57 Throw a listen-in. Contact record stores, coffee shops, book stores, malls, recreational areas, galleries, cool clothing stores or nightclubs that are willing to support local music. The free listen-in could have talk session and discounted CDs with coupons.

Promo Tip #58 Keep it simple silly, web sites that take a long time to load, are not easy to navigate, and are not interesting will not keep the viewer's attention long enough for them to get to know you. So don't make your personal website or any site that can be customized, so frilly that it turns a potential opportunity away.

Promo Tip #59 Join local communities and organizations and go to meetings periodically and pay attention. Listen for opportunities in what they are saying and perhaps volunteer. Help them and they will help you. Nonprofit organizations are likely to have access to media outlets that may give your some exposure.

Promo Tip #60 Check your public and local radio stations that play your type of music and try to get some air time.

Promo Tip #61 You will hear a lot of no's and negativity. That is to be expected as everyone's taste is different. Hopefully someone will give you some constructive criticism. Learn from it what you can but keep moving forward.

Promo Tip #62 Develop yourself as a complete package. Record labels do not spend the money on A&R as in the day. Educate yourself as a well-rounded music artist and present yourself as such.

Promo Tip #63 Elevator Pitch - If you only have one shot to make an impression in 30 seconds or less, can you do it? You will need to, so practice it!

Promo Tip #64 Post your gigs on your website(s), class ads, Craigslist, Backpage and other sites for your location.

Promo Tip #65 Submit your music to songwriting competitions, musician competitions, singing contests - try out for American Idol, for gosh sakes!

Promo Tip #66 Do a free conference call to chat with fans using your website. Record the call and follow up by posting the MP3 on your site. Promote it for all its worth.

Promo Tip #67 Never release an inferior product, send out professional, and only your very best demos and new releases.

Promo Tip #68 Get testimonials and reviews from people that matter and start locally if you have to. Add them to your press kit.

Promo Tip #69 Make sure you make it easy for potentials sales to happen whether on your site or at a show. Make the payment process, safe, secure and EASY.

Promo Tip #70 Have a house concert. Invite the neighborhood to your backyard.

Promo Tip #71 Give your fans insider, behind the scenes, back stage with the band info and videos. This is great info to include in newsletters - people that signed up to learn more about you on purpose.

Promo Tip #72 Take the good with the bad, and take it all graciously. You must keep your image clean or at least maintain the aforementioned image.

Promo Tip #73 Don't waste time, prioritize and go with the best bets. Put your energy into the correct market for YOUR music.

Promo Tip #74 If you can write well about a music subject, write and distribute articles. Always source the article back to your website. Let it be redistributed with the bottom author source info to spread your message and link.

Promo Tip #75 Gig swap with other bands from another area to widen your fan base.

Promo Tip #76 A music profile or bio, press kit and press releases should all be well written, free of misspellings, kept current, and to the point. Schedule updates of your various online activities.

Promo Tip #77 Find a business in your area that you can partner with for mutual benefit. If something about a song, style, or image would boost a local business, develop a cross promotional relationship.

Promo Tip #78 Respond to all your correspondence in a timely, businesslike, and correct manner - appropriate to the sender. Be considerate of your audience.

Promo Tip #79 Give people what they want. It's all about the fans. If they come to your website, give them information that makes THEM feel good. If they come to your show, entertain them, thank them and thank the venue for the experience.

Promo Tip #80 Don't disappear. Once you have started building your momentum, it is a continuous onslaught.

Promo Tip #81 Attend music conferences, indie showcases, music festivals. Gain exposure and network.

Promo Tip #82 Be easy to work with and be flexible. A good reputation carries a lot of weight. Flexibility can also mean possibly adjusting areas of your work or image so as to get your foot in the door if need be.

Promo Tip #83 Have a cause. Create an event to promote that cause. Team up with other like-minded bands and make a news worthy event out of that cause.

Promo Tip #84 Business Cards - When talking to anyone, hand one out. You must include the link to your website. Consider your link as your online business card.

Promo Tip #85 Rolodex your contact list (some sites have contact managers in their member consoles). Make a list and keep it current of all the places online and offline that you need to post to when you need to send out reoccurring press releases of news and events. Be aware that many sites have limits in number and/or time frames, be careful to not exceed them.

Promo Tip #86 Invoke your personality into your writings to make your invitations, announcements and introductions fun and effective.

Promo Tip #87 Clearly define what you are about - quickly, online or offline. People have short attention spans and are short on time - not just the music industry, but most people in general. This is very important! Don't waste words. Make anything you have to say about yourself or band enough to give the important necessary information and cut out the nonsense.

Promo Tip #88 Create a band calendar with some humorous photos of the various band members at various events.

Promo Tip #89 You heard it through the grapevine. Share "some" inside knowledge with other bands and songwriters in your area. Start your own information highway.

Promo Tip #90 Create an automated template for emails. Take the time to add the person's name with a personal tidbit, but save time with a ready made email guide. Respond to unsolicited emails with your own personalized marketing message and a link to your website.

Promo Tip #91 Play for free if you have to, any where, any time. Create an event, an event with a cause and donate the proceeds to a charity. This can open up some interesting contacts and opportunities. Sponsor an event.

Promo Tip #92 Reach out and touch your fans. Whether someone else is maintaining your online presence or not, occasionally touch base with fans personally.

Promo Tip #93 Include every ounce of contact info needed upon every available surface.

Promo Tip #94 Borrow an idea from other sources, even outside the music industry. If it works for that company, perhaps you can adapt the idea to market your music as well. Find a way to put a new twist or slant on a successful bands tactics.

Promo Tip #95 Send birthday cards to your fans...of course you need to get their birthday info when they sign up for mailing lists.

Promo Tip #96 Get involved in the music forums and message boards that target your music segment and ALWAYS include your signature URL (aka web link)!!

Promo Tip #97 Start a Music or Band Blog, well written and kept current. Submit it to music Blog directories.

Promo Tip #98 Create a novelty song that topics a holiday, a hot news item, your city or town, sports team, political event or other idea and gain exposure on promoting this song.

Promo Tip #99 Listen to your fans and learn what brought them to your show. This is very effective to giving you feedback on which promotional tool worked.

Promo Tip #100 Success does not happen to those that wait. A record label , music deal, stardom, just creating a website "and they will come" does not just land in your lap with you doing nothing. You have to make success come to you. Be persistent, be confident, roll up your sleeves, it is going to take some serious work.

But wait, there's more! We could not stop at 100! Here are a few more great tips:

Promo Tip #101 Use the Internet to research and keep current on new ways and new sites to market your music.

Promo Tip #102 Strength in numbers. Build joint ventures, collaborations and/or online partners on a project and both of you market that project.

Promo Tip #103 Have a professional email address.

Promo Tip #104 Don't burn your bridges. Even with the increasing number of music "wanna-be's" the music industry is a relatively small and close knit community. A wrong done to you by someone early in your career, may be that "someone" in a position of music power one day that you just might need to do business with.

Promo Tip #105 Join the party, even if not in the mood. Don't respond to the inevitable "what do you do" question with your day job, but tell your potentially new fan you are a musician and hand them your business card.

Promo Tip #106 Keep a journal of your marketing efforts with what worked and what did not work. This can be used in many ways down the road besides tracking your efforts. A book or e-book maybe?

Promo Tip #107 If out partying, have a designated friend or band mate for image control. If you get into something that could potentially land you in trouble, that controller gets you out of the situation before it can hurt your image. Video can be on the Internet before you even get home, so protect your image at all costs if you happen to get out of control.

Promo Tip #108 Business is business. There is a time and place for slang/explicit language, behavior, and the like. Project yourself in a professional manner. Know when you are onstage and when you are not.

Promo Tip #109 Get your own competition going about your band or a new release. Give something away, have fans register at local record stores, find a way to get buzz going by asking a great question.

Promo Tip #110 Self promote everyday, in every way, one way or the other.

Some of these pointers may not be for you. That's fine. Do what you need to do, just make sure we ALL hear about you. Very true that many artists do not have the funds to do some of these tips, well, with the Internet and some ingenuity it possible to get around this to an extent.

The difference between you and another band that made it may not be that their music was better. It might be that they found a way to get noticed better. The music industry needs music talent and is constantly on the look out for something that stands out. If you have the guts and perseverance, it can be you.

As we age lose the DNA in our cells segments of adenine at the ends. This is because our cells divide continuously. Once all the segments of adenine are gone, the DNA in the cell begins to lose segments that are necessary for life, and the cell dies because it no longer can function properly. The solution is to an enzyme called adenine ligase in the nucleus of the cell so that it may be the segements of adenine relink. once the segments be reattached, your DNA again, so that it can continue to divide for many years protected.

Another aspect of aging is that our cells have a maximum age. It's not that your cells no longer normally would function, is that there is an order in our DNA that tells the cell free of harmful chemical substances will digestive disolve the cells in our body from the inside out. This date is said to be about 130 years of age.Now we don't have a problem with it, but when people start to live longer, it would prevent people from living longer than approximately 130 years old. The way to remedy this problem is to replace the segment of DNA that causes the Lysosomes to burst. Once we do that, will no longer be a limit on how long we could live.

Hormone levels also play a key role in aging. Such as levels of HgH decline, cells as soon not replaced and aging occurs as the percentage of living cells in your organs and tissues. HgH stands for human growth hormone and is managed by sugar levels in the body. We all need a certain amount of blood sugar to remain active and happy, but when the sugar levels spike, HgH stops is produced and an aging phase. This means things like soda and anything with high sugar content will age you every time you drink or eat. There is no doubt that our body carbohydrates need to perform at a high level, so it is advisable to consider the feedback loop of high blood sugar levels HgH off by the receptors in the pituitary gland slightly less sensitive to the rise in blood sugar levels change with age. This is necessary because the pituitary less HgH over time, produces, and it can safely be regulated by the medicine.Doctors would slightly increase the dosage to maintain healthy levels of HgH in the body. The pituitary gland to produce less HgH over time is also determined by DNA, so a series to keep HgH levels constant with age and not be carried out by sugar levels can be replaced.

Another important factor in aging are things that most people know about such as clean air, healthy, non-contaminated food, prevention of illness and injury, regular exercise, prevention of exposure to the Sun, to stay away from dangerous chemical substances and getting enough sleep. Ionizers are a great way to keep the air cleaner in your home. it would also be smart to have wooden floors instead of carpet, to ensure that there is proper ventilation in your home and the dust in your mattress and pillows prevent from getting into your lungs at night with covers that substance to get by. healthy food means a balanced diet with lots of fresh food and avoid anything that is not in the nature as saturated fats. it would also be smart to avoid foods that are high in acid and salt content, which can damage cells.

Women testing guys all time. The reason they do this to see how much they can manipulate us and our actions.

Now is one of the principles of a "bad setting" never to take part in a woman test When she tries to create drama or force you to do something, you ignore her requests or just call her out of her actions.

The bottom line is that you don't fall for its tests and never kiss her a **!Instead you behave in a way where you are in control. If you do something fun for her, you want it on your terms, not her.

Of course, common dating tips can assist anybody that reads them but for special tips that aid a specific gender or inclination, they can be little and far between. If you're seeking dating tips for a girl, look no more your search has ended!

The initial issue you must know while seeking dating tips as a girl is to pick and decide carefully. Since each person is unique, not every tip will succeed for everybody. So be certain that you use the tips that you're Happy with, don't forget to be sincere to who you really are, and you're guaranteed to be victorious!

Tip #1

Dating tips for girls will as a rule include dressing sexy and basically "putting yourself on show there". You won't stumble on these tips in this message. The initial tip to be shared with you is to be yourself! Lots of women believe that they can't be themselves whilst they initially come together with a man for one rationale or another.

The bottom line is, if he doesn't like who you are, the association isn't going to develop very far, as sooner or later your real colours will shine through, So be yourself and Remain confident. You'll come across heaps of men that love your personality and the kind of person you are.

Tip #2

One more splendid dating tip for girls is to make sure you don't air your grubby linen on the first date. Let's be realistic, we all contain things in our lives that aren't as a rule desirable to the opposite gender.

Now, this isn't to say that you must keep this stuff hidden as long as possible, but you undoubtedly must not reveal all the gory details the instant you guys hook up. Offer him an opportunity to get to know you, first.

A gate will unlock after a few dates which will, provide the opportunity to commence feeding information he must know, that could affect him in the long run. By the time these conversations arise, you'll already be in a friendship and it will be Simpler for him to understand the things you're revealing without being scared off.

Tip #3

Lastly, an essential dating tip for girls is to not appear desperate! This doesn't mean that you're falling all over the men that you come across or letting them know how much you require or desire a date, this relates to avoiding doing things like, waiting by the phone for his call and paying for the date merely because he requests.

These tiny things which you may well consider as being kind on account of liking him, may lead him to believe you're willing to do whatever it takes to make him happy and to snag him for yourself. Which can produce two possible outcomes; he'll feel uneasy and suffocated and dump you quick, or he'll decide to string you along and milk you for all he can neither of which is particularly pleasant.

And there you have it 3 tips for you girls to get the most out of your dating experiences.

I sincerely hope you have enjoyed these dating tips for girls.

http://www.articlesbase.com/-A Potential Cure for leukemia and autoimmune disorders

Patients with leukemia cancer white blood cells and people with autoimmune disorders such as rheumatoid arthritis white blood cells that hypersensitive and attacks of healthy cells. since they both white blood cells have in common, we have a lot of the same treatment to cure diseases.

The solution is to replace faulty white blood cells by healthy. This means that killing the bad cells first with medications that specifically aimed at killing white blood cells and causes no significant damage to other cells in the body.

However, without an immune system our body would quickly become host to a variety of harmful organisms. So we need to provide the patient with a sterile/germ free environment and possibly antibiotics during treatment, because they would be temporary without a fully functioning immune system.

After the failed white blood cells death or significantly less in number. The next step is to inject the bone marrow stem cells that were made of the patient. This is achieved by taking healthy adult cells from another part of the body of the patient and then running a tissue sample in stem cells using the most recent breakthrough in stem cell research. How to decide what size your personal avatar image should be on your favorite social networks.

In my 2009 Personal Avatar Size Reference Guide, I gave some rules to keep in mind when choosing an image size for your avatar. This year I’m going to keep things even simpler.

Since most of the popular social networks here below only use square images – cropping rectangular images when necessary – and they all show your image at various sizes, there are only really 2 ways of going about this:

Submit a good quality, large image that still looks good even when reduced in size, or…Select an image according to which size is most likely to be seen for a given social network

I recommend the first strategy. It’s just easier to apply because all you need to remember is to reuse the same single, good quality, large image of at least 180 x 180 pixels whenever you’re asked to submit a profile picture for any of the social networks listed.

Use this first strategy with one condition; for the social networks where you spend most of your social networking time (like I currently do with Twitter), use an image tailored to that site’s guidelines and/or restrictions, which is where my recommendations come from.

Some of the recommendations haven’t changed since 2009, some have, and I’ve also included newly-popular networks in the list.

Facebook logoFacebook’s profile page lets you display up to a rectangular image 180 pixels wide x 540 pixels tall while showing avatars of 50×50 pixels elsewhere.
Recommendation: 180 × 540 pixels. If you’re not happy with how Facebook crops your image in making the 50 x 50 avatar, use a 180 x 180 pixel image for your profile.LinkedIn logoLinkedIn’s sidebar images measure 40 × 40 pixels and profile page images can be 80×80 pixels.
Recommendation: 80 × 80 pixelsTwitter logoTwitter profile pages display images at 73 × 73 pixels while showing avatars at 48 × 48, 31 × 31 and 24 × 24 pixels elsewhere.
Recommendation: 48 × 48 pixels if you put a larger image as part of your Twitter background, otherwise 73 × 73 pixels.Google logoAlthough Google’s Gmail (96 × 96 pixels) and Friend Connect (both 82 × 82 and 40 × 40 pixels) use different images, the image sizes aren’t too different.
Recommendation: 96×96 pixelsfoursquare logoFoursquare is “a mobile application that makes cities easier to use and more interesting to explore” or, a social network related to places & brands. Lets you display a square images showing avatars of 40 x 40, 30 x 30 and 110 x 110 pixels on your profile page which is limited to “200 KB or smaller (jpg, gif, or png format)”.
Recommendation: 110 x 110 pixelsgowalla logoGowalla is a location-based mobile social network that inspires people to share their favorite places with friends around the world. They call their avatars “icons” and say “Should be square, preferably 100 x 100 pixels, and in JPEG, GIF, or PNG format.” Elsewhere on the site, your image will be displayed at 30 x 30 pixels.
Recommendation: 100 x 100 pixels

digg logo

Digg v4, released in August 2010, emphasizes 2 image sizes: the profile page can display an image up to 140×140 pixels, while the rest of the site shows mostly shrunken versions at 24×24 pixels. Images can be no larger than 5 MB.
Recommendation: use an image of 140×140 pixels that is still clear & recognizable at 24×24. Otherwise, upload a better 24×24 pixel image since that will be seen much more often.yahoo logoYahoo! Pulse is Yahoo’s Facebook-like site. The Profile page has your square image at 128 x 128 pixels, but the most-used size is the reduced 32 x 32 that appears near comments.
Recommendation: 128 x 128 pixels

Skype logo

Like Facebook, Skype is one place where rectangular images can be used, but that doesn’t mean you should. Both 96×96 pixel and 48×48 pixel images are used on Skype.
Recommendation: prioritize the chat window by submitting an image of 96×96 pixels.NingThings have changed since Ning became a paid website… Ning will take your GIF, JPG or PNG file and display it at 115 x 115 on your profile page, and elsewhere at 40 x 40. Limit of 10 MB.
Recommendation: 115 x 115 pixelsFriendfeed logoFriendFeed is like Google in that the different avatar sizes used aren’t too different at 75 × 75, 50 × 50 and 25 × 25 pixels.
Recommendation: 75 × 75 pixels

Gravatar logo

Gravatars are universally-used for blog comments, like here below. Although the Gravatar website will preview your avatar for you at 192 × 192 and 80 × 80 pixels, webmasters can choose a size that fits their design and that is usually something smaller, closer to 50 × 50 pixels.
Recommendation: 50 × 50 pixels.MyBlogLog logoAlso used here on Personal Branding Blog, MyBlogLog is a great way to see who is visiting a site. Files must be in JPG or PNG format, 5MB or under but will be reduced for the avatars to appear at 96 × 96 pixels, 48 × 48 pixels and even 24 × 24 pixels on some sites.
Recommendation: 48×48 pixelsBlogCatalog logoBlogCatalog is like MyBlogLog and almost as useful. Making things simple, there’s only one possible size here for your GIF or JPG avatar image.
Recommendation: 50 × 50 pixels.MySpace logoMyspace allows up to 158 × 158 pixels for an image on the profile page, and uses 28 × 28 pixel icons everywhere else.
Recommendation: 158 × 158 pixels

StumbleUpon logo

StumbleUpon lets you use a large 185 × 185 image on your profile page but will settle for any size you submit, while using avatars of 48 × 48 pixels everywhere else.
Recommendation: 48 × 48 pixels.Xanga logoA blogging social network. Add an image to your site that is 170 x 170 pixels or smaller to achieve the best results. Larger images may be compressed automatically, resulting in image distortion. Unfortunately, many users have had trouble in 2010 adding profile pictures and Xanga hasn’t been too responsive in their own forums. Comments avatars can be a maximum of 60 x 90 pixels.
Recommendation: 170 x 170 pixelsorkut logoGoogle’s social network also announced some changes in summer 2010 with a recommendation to use square profile images. Orkut profile pages display images at 96 × 96, 66 x 66 pixels, 60 x 80 (in the Communities) and 35 x 35 for the friend avatar.
Recommendation: 96 × 96 pixelsFriendster logoFriendster was considered the top online social networking service until around April 2004, when it was overtaken by MySpace. Photos must be no larger than 2 MB. Profile images are square, and appear across the site in sizes of 35 x 35, 40 x 40, 130 x 130 and 200 x 200 on your Profile page.
Recommendation: 200 x 200 pixelshi5 logohi5 is a social gaming network, open to people 13 and older. You can’t upload photos that are more than 2 MB. It lets you display square images showing avatars of 100 x 100 pixels, 75 x 75 and 50 x 50.
Recommendation: 100 x 100 pixels

Still the easiest tool to create & resize your avatar image online.

From my 2009 guide: “With mypictr, upload a large avatar image and choose the destined website or social network. mypictr then suggests the default avatar size for the chosen website and lets you zoom and crop your uploaded image until you have a match. Once you click ‘pictrit’, you can download your image or email it to someone else.”

It is strange that our schools and colleges teach us ad nauseam about things that have no relevance to our lives, but provide no instruction about life events- for example marriage, dealing with teenagers, our spouses, our in-laws, obnoxious neighbors and so on. Thus it is no surprise that while tipping is an integral part of our lives, we are not given any formal training in this gastronomically related activity. You would think that courses like Tipping 101, 201 etc, would be pre-requisites to all college degrees. Far from it, my research failed to turn up a single course in this ancient art. I really need such a course, because tipping is confusing; I cannot understand who to tip and how much to tip. Forget my embarrassment; tipping is even affecting the political future of New York State.

Let me share with you some thoughts about tipping; including a little bit of knowledge and a lot of confusion.

The word TIP is an acronym for "TO INSURE PROMPTNESS". It started in England around 1755. We gained independence from the British, we drive on the right side of the road instead of the left and we have modified our knife/ fork usage for dining. However, tipping has remained with us.

You know what's ironic? If tipping is meant to ensure quick service we should be tipping in fast food places like McDonald's and Burger King, where we are served within two minutes. Instead we give tips in snooty restaurants where we wait the better part of an hour to get our food. (Why do we call the servers "waiters", when we do all the waiting?)

Who should we tip? We tip waiters, coat attendants, valets, porters, delivery men. We also tip taxi drivers. This is all very confusing. Should I tip everyone that helps me? Should I tip my wife after dinner? Should I tip my office subordinates when they complete an assignment on time?

At barbershops, hairdressers etc, we are expected to tip workers but not the owner. How is one supposed to know? They all dress alike. Perhaps they should wear dog tags saying "tip" or "do not tip". My suggestion: As you are leaving tell him or her "You own a great business here". Then just leave without tipping anyone.

I searched the Internet to learn more about tipping. All I found were 3 sites about cow-tipping. What is this cow-tipping? It seems to me that American farmers are tipping their cows and if so, what for? I don't know, but if it makes the cows happy and results in tastier milk with less cholesterol and more protein, I am all for it.

Last year, I took a flight to North Carolina. It was a dark and stormy night with heavy rain. Even so, the pilot made a perfect text book landing. I was impressed and after the plane landed, I tried to get into the cockpit and tip the pilot but the attendants would not let me in. I still think one of them was crazy. Placing her index finger on her temple, she rotated her hand in a corkscrew motion and glanced at her companion. This was most unsettling; if there were any loose screws on the airplane, she should have reported it to the maintenance crew. Anyway, I decided not to upset this (obviously deranged) lady and gave up on trying to tip the pilot.

Quite the opposite happened recently, when I endured a cab ride in Manhattan. The driver was a borderline lunatic; it was a terrifying experience, and we had 3 near accidents in a 10 minute ride. Even so, my companion insisted that I tip the driver. I found this very strange. When a pilot flew 500 miles and landed me safely under difficult conditions, I was not allowed to tip him, but when a cab driver almost got me killed thrice in 10 minutes, I was expected to give a gratuity.

How much should we tip? I had heard that we should tip either 15% of the bill or tip two times the sales tax. I adopted the second rule, i.e. twice the sales tax. This worked fine for me in New York. My next job assignment was in North Carolina. It worked well again. In Texas, however, the waiters gave me dirty looks, even though I followed the same rule. Is it my fault that they have zero sales tax over there?

Enough of my personal troubles. Even the politics of New York is being affected by tipping. A few years ago Hillary Clinton was in the news. In the course of her senatorial campaign she stopped at an upstate restaurant. As a courtesy, the owner waived the bill and said that it was on the house. Hillary did not leave any tip. Newspaper reporters pounced on this story. The WANTIP, "Waiters Against Non Tippers" declared her persona non grata and adopted a resolution that their members would neither serve her nor vote for her. However I feel that she had some justification. After all 15% of nothing is zero, zilch, nada. Double the sales tax (when there is no bill) is also zero. So she was mathematically correct, while being politically incorrect.

Mayor Giuliani, Hillary's opponent, was in a similar situation but very prudently, left a large tip. He won the endorsement of the WANTIP association for the upcoming election. While he was politically correct, he was mathematically off base. Then I faced a dilemma. Should I vote for the former first lady who was mathematically astute but politically incorrect, but OR should I "tip" my hand towards Mr. Giuliani, politically correct but mathematically a dunce? I was totally confused. Fortunately for me, Mr. Giuliani withdrew his candidacy and I was saved from having to make a tough decision.

Even Winston Churchill, that bulldog of bulldogs, was tripped up by tipping. One day, when he had to go for a meeting and his car would not start, he hailed a cab. The cabby did not recognize him. At the destination, as Churchill paid the fare, he requested the cab driver to wait for him. However, the cabby refused saying "Sir, I have to go home and listen to Churchill's speech on the radio. I cannot wait". Churchill was so flattered that he gave the man a 10 pound tip. Now the cab driver was overjoyed and said "Sir, you are a fine gentleman. To hell with Churchill, I'll wait for you."

So you see that this problem of tipping is confusing not only to me but also to experienced politicians and statesmen, while impacting the political future of New York State. I am desperately looking to enroll in a Tipping 101 course. If you find such a course offered somewhere, please "tip" me off. Needless to say, you will receive a generous tip, even if your state has no sales tax.

(Reader note: some varieties of cows sleep in a standing position. Occasionally a prankster would sneak up to the side of a sleeping-while-standing cow and try to tip it over, hence the term "cow tipping".)

Sometimes, the right career change can happen without completely changing careers.

astronaut job

This a guest post by Shoshanna Jaskoll. If you’d also like to guest post here on JobMob, follow these guest post guidelines.

Back in college, If you had asked me to rank possible careers for myself, my current one would not have even been on the list. I would have started with Astronaut, continued with Minister of the Environment, and possibly ended with Avocado Picker.

Being 5’1? knocked me out of Astronaut contention- (Also, I stink at math, but officially I blame the height thing). Minister of the Environment could have happened, maybe, after many, many years of grunt work, excellent ulpan and working my tuchus off to meet the right people.

In the end, I did meet the right person- and I married him- thus changing the trajectory of my life for the better.

Long story short, after our first Aliya and subsequent 6-year move back to the States, I found myself working for various non-profits in the Jewish world in various capacities. During that time, I continued freelance writing which I’d always done.

When we decided to move back to Israel, I needed a job. My resume was a conglomerate of positions; educator, writer, editor, intern at a few prestigious organizations, and a degree from Rutgers with some graduate courses thrown in. I had no idea what NBN (Nefesh b’Nefesh) might come up with for me.

When I got the call that I was being asked to interview for a non-profit organization as the Resource Development Coordinator, I was worried. Fundraising? NOT something I ever wanted to do, I hate asking people for money… but I really wanted to move to Israel and if I could sweep the streets, maybe I could do this. My sister conveniently had a baby, and I went to visit, fitting in the interview at the same time.

The interview was with the Chief Exec as well as the headhunter he had hired. I answered questions about myself and my abilities honestly. I could write, I was passionate about Israel and Judaism. I had compassion for those in need and I was comfortable meeting and speaking with people. Also, my Hebrew was passable.

Within 30 minutes of finishing the interview, they offered me the job and some training to ease my way in.

Now, there were things I needed to learn, and discomforts that I needed to get over, but I found that I could do it. My main discomfort- asking people for money – was ameliorated by the fact that it was mostly in writing and by remembering that I wasn’t asking for me, but for those who really needed it. I grew into the field quickly, coming up with ideas and solutions to previously cumbersome tasks.

This job, which I never would have considered applying for in other circumstances, launched a new career for me. After a year with the original org, I moved on to work under a professional with decades of experience (the original headhunter!). I also read – a LOT – about the field.

Eventually, I wanted needed different work hours, and to work in my own style. I began a partnership with 2 other professionals whose strengths complemented mine (and who also happen to be my sisters). Together, we offer non-profits many of the services it takes to run a successful non-profit; from board building, to media placement, from website content to grant writing.  We now have a great client base and work with some of the best non-profits in Israel.

I must thank David Maeir Epstein- Resource Development for Non-Profits (and NBN) for seeing what I could not, hiring me for that first job and then later for another, and training me with patience and professionalism.

If I hadn’t been ready to try something new, consider my skills in a new light and trust in myself and others, I would not have the career I do today. Working for myself allows me to make my own hours and choose my clients- extremely important for a mother.

I still look at photos from outer space wistfully, and I am still determined to fix Israel’s environment. But, I now see that making a difference – a real difference – is so much easier when working with people and organizations with the passion and drive to do so. It is also very rewarding.

Not having a job is an excellent time to consider possibilities you’ve never thought of before.

Don’t box yourself in. You are not defined by your degree, a certain skill set, or even what you think you are good at. Don’t make assumptions. Explore different options and take chances!

You very well might end up doing what you’d never thought you would- and loving it!
